Everyone notices the old white house on Jonesboro Street with its columned porches, beautiful landscaping
and ancient hulking presence. It wasn't just the fact that the house is immense and beautiful that caused me to
slow down and take a long lingering glance every time I passed by, no, it was the presence of the house itself.
Just an eerie feeling as if someone or rather something is looking back at you, even after the house
had been abandoned and a "for sale" sign planted right out front in the yard.
I got the chance of a more indepth look when we had been invited
by the home owner to do a full investigation. That meant getting my team down to the house at 9:00 pm and setting up all of
the equipment. The team was very anxious to get a chance to explore the old home that must, after so much time, be
harboring a spirit or two!
The house was built in circa 1880 FOR J. B. Dixon, an early
mayor of McDonough. The Dixon's had several children. Both Ruth Elizabeth and Gordon inherited the house after their
parents had passed away. Ruth became a music teacher at the McDonough High School. She was popular and pretty, Ruth never
married but maybe she just hadn't ever met the right man, or maybe her time had just run out. In July of 1944, Gordon, Ruth's
brother, found Ruth dead in her bedroom. It appeared that she had shot herself with a pistol Ruth had been living alone in
the House.
That alone would be enough to cause a few restless
spirits to roam the staircases and hallways. But there was other incriminating evidence that the sprits of Ruth and Gordon
might not be the only ones wandering around the white house. In 2003 the house was in sad desrepair and extensive remodeling was needed in order to bring the house
back to life. I was interested in trying to find out some of these answers that night with the house strung up
from one end to the other with cable connecting monitors and cameras hoping to capture some of the reported activity.
My team was in position and the power had been shut off, even the air conditioning. We waited in the dimly lit dark halls
and rooms, our only light source was by candle light and the occasional car lights crossing the windows from
the street.
As you will see from the pictures, we got some very interesting
activity that night. The home owner had told me that voices have been heard, especially one that would call out the name of
her son. We didn't get the chance to hear that but got a lot of fascinating evidence that night.

Our paranormal investigation team has an ongoing research effort within the Dickson home. We are continuously finding more
evidence such as EVP's and other occurrences within the house. We will continue to post new evidence as it is gathered and
processed for the website. Please check back periodically for future updated evidence.
I want to thank our hostess for allowing us into her home. It
was a place I have always wanted to venture in and investigate. The house is so beautiful, just walking inside you feel
as if you have walked into the past. The restoration she worked so hard to complete is amazing from the colors of the walls
to the gleam of the wood floors and stairways. That night will never be forgotten by me or the investigating team.
Thank you immensly!
